Adding Legs to a Cabinet

An alternate title for this post would be "If you like it then you shoulda put some legs on it."  I mentioned in my last post that I had an upcycle to show you.  Well here she is.  This petite little cabinet actually didn't have legs when I found it.  

What she did have was fabulous glass doors and pretty trim on top.

Turns out I had a set of table legs in my stash that were the perfect length.  Here I am testing them out. 

I used my Kreg pocket hole jig to drill holes and attach the apron pieces to my legs, then attached the whole thing to the cabinet from underneath. It took about twenty minutes, easy to do with the right tool.  The finish of the cabinet and legs doesn't match but with only light distressing and antique wax you can't tell.

You'd never know they weren't always there.  

I also replaced the back panel with planks to give the cabinet a little interest inside.  I think this would have been a great piece to wall paper the back of with a fun print but this is less taste specific. 

I had fun staging this one against my new plank wall.  The rug is from Ikea.  Paint is Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in color Mustard Seed, sealed with Antique Wax.  The inside is a medium gray latex I had on hand with antique glaze to warm it up.  

I'm very happy with how this piece came together, I think the legs fit perfectly.
