Tricycle (Red) Milk Painted Dresser

Here's a dresser I painted recently.  I used Tricycle Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint.  It's the perfect red.  The before was a paint color that can only be described as the color of pale flesh.  Not so appealing on a dresser.  It was also very glossy and I didn't want to deal with too much flaking off so I decided to use the bonding agent.  Milk paint can be unpredictable which is part of the appeal but I knew it would be too much chipping because of the gloss so I didn't chance it.

I had a great experience with the paint on this piece. It adhered beautifully and distressed really well.  I used medium grit sand paper on the edges.  It did chip in just a couple places which I love. I finished it with clear wax. Antique wax looks beautiful on this color but I just wasn't feeling it this time.

The thing about this dresser is that someone cut the feet off of it so I almost didn't buy it.  I thought about adding wheels or something but then I decided I kind of like it the way it is.  It definitely makes it a heavy looking piece so I decided to go with heavier looking hardware.

It has some great details like curved top, curved drawers, paneled sides and key holes.

I picture this piece in someones entryway or mudroom.  You could throw shoes in the bottom and scarves and hats into the top drawers.  So many places she could happily live.

Have you tried Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint yet?  The store I have my space in, Abundance Vintage, is now carrying it.  We are stocked so if you are near the Centralia area come on down!  I am excited to try some of the other colors.  I have three pieces in my living room right now all lined up ready to go.  It's getting kinda crowded in here.
