Chalk Painted Wood Box
I feel like I've been working on a million things and finishing nothing. I haven't posted in almost two weeks I am going through withdrawals.
Totally not on my list of to-do's was this wood box.
I ordered some chalk paint because I just couldn't resist the hype. I have a coffee table I want to paint and I don't want to prime or sand so I was intrigued. I decided to try it out on this box first.
It is good stuff. The way it distresses is so beautiful. It is all that and a bag of chips just like every one says.
I mean look at that distressed goodness.
I found this chippy rusty handle at a salvage store for $.25. perfect finishing touch.
I wanted the design to be personalized so it took me over a week to decide on something. I wanted it to look like an old wine crate. Charli is our Dog/child, I love me some Merlot, and 1992 is the year I met my husband although we didn't get married until quite a bit later..... I used the transfer method. I scribbled pencil on the back of my images then traced them onto the box and then filled it in with paint using a small artist brush. For the Chateau I found an image through Google and enlarged it. I used a dark brown colored pencil for that. Then I sanded over everything and finished with one coat of wax. I used Minwax because that's what I have and it changed the color a bit.
.
I like it. My husband likes it. I finished something. All's good.
Have Happy Fourth of July!
