Copy Me Challenge- Donna Funky Junk Interiors
I decided that I wanna play. My blog is so new and not quite ready to show yet but I want to play the Miss Mustard Seed and Funky Junk Donna’s copy me challenge so I’m gonna just go for it. For Funky Junk Donna I decided that my rustic shutter window treatment was probably the most Funky Junk-ish thing in my house.
I have had these shutters, made by cutting two bi-fold closet doors in half, for at least 4 years. Not quite as awesome as Donna’s shutter window treatment in her front room but I thought it was pretty clever. They initially were stained medium brown. They lived like that until about 6 months ago (everything seems like 6 months ago to me time fly’s so who knows how long it’s really been.) when I painted them with heirloom white spray paint, distressed the edges with sand paper and aged with brown stain. The twig wreath I bought at the local thrift store for under $3 it had some berry sprigs and leaves in it but I feel it’s more Donna-esk without them and of course a rusty star.
I also made the pillow, sign, and bench. The antique fishing creel, game board and lantern were things that my husband has acquired from family. I love how worn they are. My first attempt did not include the game board or sign but I knew I had to add some graphic items to make it more Donna. I don’t have any rustic old parts to really finish it off so I added the skeleton keys. Here is my best attempt at Donna's style with what I have. Eek, I just popped over and looked at some of the entries and almost lost my nerve to link up. Almost ;)
